Being a Momma!

May 17, 2011 By Sara

Ok, so I’ve talked about being a farm wife and also about my full-time-off-the-farm job at The Home Agency, so now I’m going to talk about being a Momma!

Being a mommy is something that I always imagined myself being and when I finally got my husband convinced it was time to start a family I started imagining how our lives were going to change.  When we found out we were expecting, I remember thinking, “Oh, boy!  What did we get ourselves into!  Nothing is going to be the same ever again!”

And it’s not….it’s better!  HD is such a happy kiddo and is always on the go.  He’s so fun and easy going that it’s easy to take him everywhere we go.  In his short 14 months of life he’s been to the mountains twice, been boating, ridden in the tractor and combine, been to a few weddings and a funeral, petted calves and cows, been to numerous Husker and Cyclone football, volleyball and baseball games, been fishing, and stayed at both sets of grandparents’ houses, most of his aunts and uncles’ houses and also a cousin’s house.

He loves to play outside with his dogs, read books, ride with daddy in the tractor, go swimming/take baths, get into everything he possibly can, help mommy cook, play on his slide, go up and down stairs and give hugs and kisses.  It makes me so happy when he comes over to give me a hug and a kiss without me asking him to.

Even though HD has only been in our lives for 14 months, it feels like he’s been a part of us forever.  I can’t imagine my life without him in it.  He’s a perfect mixture of the both of us, although he didn’t get his blue eyes that I LOVE from either of us (thanks grandma, aunts and uncles!).

He’s really starting to understand us and respond, even if it isn’t in English.  He’s so curious and I know as soon as he can talk he’ll be asking all kinds of questions.  Grandma Rhonda says that there will never be any secrets in our house since HD is a talker!

Although these last 14 months have been a fun and wild ride, I know that these next few years will be even more so!

Below are some of my favorite pictures from the past year.  I love you little man!
