The past 10 days….

November 18, 2011 By Sara

Oh, where do I begin!?!?!  Since my last post (last Tuesday) I have been to four different states.  These travels were for both pleasure and work, but now I’m home and will be for awhile!  Yeah!!!

Last week, I headed to New York City on Thursday morning with my mom (Sharri), sister (Megan) and three of our close friends!  Our reason for traveling to the Big Apple was actually to attend the Nebraska vs Penn State football game, but we decided to spend some time touring and shopping in NYC too.  There will be more about this trip in upcoming posts!  We found some great places to eat, shop and see while we were there, so you should definitely stay tuned for the details!

After I got home late Sunday night, I unpacked on Monday, worked for awhile and then headed out to Elwood, NE to see my boys and to work there for a few days.  Kevin had finished up with harvest last Saturday while I was in NYC and he took off with HD and headed out to Nebraska to go hunting with my dad.  So, I arrived at my parent’s house about 7pm on Monday night and was there until about 1pm yesterday when HD and I headed home.

We got home about 6pm, made dinner and picked up the house a little and then we had some company arrive about 11pm last night!  They are good friends of ours that now farm down in Brazil.  Tyler is a good friend of Kevin’s from college and they knew Amy from ISU also.  Come to find out that Amy and I are distantly related!  Crazy!  Anyways, we spent a few hours catching up with them last night and then Kevin took them to the airport early this morning.

And now it’s Friday already.  Where has the time gone???  It’s crazy, but I’m already thinking about decorating for Christmas!  We are staying home this weekend, so I think that HD will get to help me clean and put away all the fall decor and then we’ll start tackling the tubs of Christmas decorations!

Luckily our house isn’t very big, so it really doesn’t take long to decorate it.  I don’t usually start decorating this early, but looking at the next four weeks, I think I better start now!  Plus, HD is 20 months and I think that he’ll really enjoy the decorations and Christmas music (which we have already been listening too!).

The past few years, the month of December has always flown by with meetings, work, Christmas parties, deer hunting, family Christmases, etc.  By the time it’s all over it seems like we didn’t really get to enjoy it, so I’m hoping that it’s a little different this year.  I really want to take time to enjoy the holidays with our little boy.  Before we know it he’ll be all grown up!

So, here’s to staying home for a weekend and getting some things done around the house.  I’m hoping to get it cleaned, undecorated (fall) and redecorated with Christmas stuff.  I’m also hoping that we can spend a little time outside in the year and do the last of our fall clean up.  Oh, and we’re having movie night tonight!  Can’t wait!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!  Talk to you next week!
