Holiday Candies

December 17, 2011 By Sara

Since it is the holiday season, I decided to try a few new holiday candies this year.  So I started searching Pinterest (I’m addicted to that website) and I found so many new, yummy recipes.  But since I was/am limited on time, I narrowed it down to these two recipes.  Below are the recipes and they are really simple to make and taste delicious!  Enjoy!

Holiday Pretzel Treats from Disney Family Fun

Ingredients
  • Bite-size, waffle-shaped pretzels
  • Hershey’s Kiss or Hershey’s Hug
  • M&M’s candy
Instructions
  1. Heat the oven to 170F. Set a number of bite-size, waffle-shaped pretzels (one for each treat) in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, then top each pretzel with an unwrapped Hershey’s Kiss or Hershey’s Hug.
  2. Bake for 4 to 6 minutes (the white chocolate will melt more quickly), until the chocolates feel soft when touched with a wooden spoon. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and quickly press an M&M’s candy into the center of each Kiss.

  3. Allow the treats to cool for a few minutes, then place them in the refrigerator to set, about 10 minutes. Place handfuls of the candies in clear plastic bags and tie on colorful ribbons.

Dark Chocolate Bark with Pistachios, dried Cranberries and Sea Salt by With Style & Grace
Ingredients
  • 8oz of 70% dark chocolate, melted
  • 1/4 cup shelled pistachios, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
Optional toppings: dried cranberries
Directions
Coat a small pan with cooking spray and line with parchment paper. Pour the melted chocolate into the pan and smooth with a spatula into an even layer.

Sprinkle pistachios, sea salt and any other optional toppings.

Chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes or until completely set.
Peel off parchment paper and break into pieces. Enjoy!

White Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
Fresh whole strawberries
Package of white chocolate chips
Green sugar sprinkles

Wash and dry the strawberries.

Melt the white chocolate chips in a double boiler, stirring frequently.  Dip the strawberries into the chocolate about 2/3 the way.

Immediately dip the bottoms of the strawberries into the green sugar sprinkles.  (I found it was easier and less mess doing it this way than trying to sprinkle the sugar on the strawberries.)

Lay dipped strawberries on parchment paper on and let cool.  Refrigerate or eat immediately.  Enjoy!
