The Christmas Tree & Presents

December 19, 2011 By Sara

We finally got a Christmas tree last Monday!  It’s been so crazy around here that we were able to all go together to Sorensen Nursery north of Avoca, IA and cut down our Christmas tree that evening.  Of course when we got there it was already dark, so we set out with a flashlight and could this perfect tree.  Barry was great there.  He trimmed off the branches at the bottom for us and then put it in a tree shaker so all the dead pine needles would fall out there instead of in my house!  Then he wrapped it up and we headed home to decorate it.

This was the first time if the last few years where Kevin was home to help me decorate the tree.  Although HD and him weren’t much help.  They pretty much horsed around on the floor and then told me if there was an empty spot that they could see from their point of view (the floor).  Oh, well!  It went pretty smoothly and it looks beautiful!

This year, I decided to wrap the presents a little differently.  I saw an idea similar to this on Pinterest and thought it would work great for Christmas presents.  So when I was at Hobby Lobby last week, I found the brown packing paper over in their wrapping paper aisle.  So I bought a few rolls and also a spool of both red and green sparkly wired ribbon to use for bows.  Instead of sticky name tags, I stamped either their initials or their names on the packages.  I found that the stamp worked better when I stamped it on the paper before I wrapped it.  Then I just wrapped the ribbon around and tied it in a knot and then curled the ends under or tied it in a bow.

I think they turned out great and look pretty under our tree!

Now that I finally have this blog post up, I want to link it over to Thrifty Decor Chick’s Christmas Tree Party!  Check out all the neat ideas that she has along with everyone else that has linked up on her blog!

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!  We have one Christmas done and three more to go!  ‘Tis the Season!
