Slice off the tops of the apples.
Using a spoon, scoop out the insides of the apples.
Place the apples in a greased pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Take the insides of the apples and chop them up into small pieces making sure that you take out the seeds and core.
In a bowl, place the apples, sour cream, sugar, flour, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon together and then cut in the butter with a pastry blender.
Next, fill the apples most of the way with the filling and then top with the flour topping.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream. Enjoy!
Were the apples soft enough?
I thought they were. Not sure if you are asking about the type of apple or the amount of time, but I like to use Granny Smith apples because of their flavor (tartness). And I thought that 20 minutes was a good amount to bake them. I didn’t want them totally mushy. But if you don’t think that they are done enough, but bake them a little longer! Enjoy!
