Farmer Friday: Growing a Corn Crop

May 24, 2013 By Sara

There is still planting going on in Southwest Iowa.  We’ve gotten quite a bit of moisture this month which is good because it’s needed, but it also keeps the farmers out of the field.  Kevin just needs a couple more good days and he should be done planting for the year.  Yeah!
I found this infographic on Pinterest the other day and thought it would be a good one to post here on my blog.  It shows what goes into growing a corn crop.  There’s a lot more to it than just putting the seed into the ground and watching it grow!
Erin from Keeping it Real: Through the Lens of a Farm Girl put this together.  I especially like the quote, “A farmer has to be an optimist or he still wouldn’t be a farmer,” by Will Rogers.  That’s so the truth!!!

Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend!  Any fun plans???

Thanks! Still have about 55 acres of corn to put in and then we are done. Its been raining off and on for the past 5 days and we’re in a flash flood warning til 7pm tonight, so I have a feeling that it’s going to be awhile before Kevin can finish up!
