Let’s start a conversation…
I’m on my way to a CommonGround conference in St. Louis where a large portion of the 100+ CommonGround volunteers will gather together to brainstorm ways to reach out and connect with consumers. Great things happen when we get together and I love it!
What makes a CommonGround and our conference so unique is that we are all from different farming backgrounds so it’s quite the learning experience.
As a Commonground volunteer and farmer, I love when I am asked questions about farming, raising livestock, food, and anything else agriculture related. And if I don’t know the answer, I have 100+ friends who are also CommonGround volunteers that do!
So let’s start a conversation.
Do you have questions about GMOs? Ask us a question!
Do you want to know what the difference is between conventionally grown crops and organics? Ask us a question!
Do you wonder about whether or not the milk you drink has hormones in it? Ask us a question!
What about antibiotics in your meat, do you want to know about that? Ask us a question!
Farmers like to have conversations about how they grow their food.
Ask questions. Communicate. Open up. Let’s have a discussion about food and farming. Let’s start a conversation!
We live in a country that has the best food options available to us right in our local grocery stores. That food comes from hard working farmers like my fellow CommonGround volunteers and I. We all shop in the grocery stores just like you! We all want to give the healthiest, most nutrient dense food possible to our children just like you! We all care about where our food comes from and how it is raised, just like you!
So take this opportunity to ask us farmers what you want to know about food and/or agriculture. You’re probably not going to find a more dedicated bunch of women farmers than the ones I will be spending time with over the next couple of days. We all love to talk about food, farming, and everything else, so ask us a question!
You can ask questions in the comments below or send them to me on my Facebook or Twitter page. Depending on the types and amounts of questions that I am asked, I may do numerous blog posts with the answers or use my social media outlets to respond!
Let’s start a conversation today!
I was just recently having a conversation with a friend who places a monthly order for grass-fed beef. Can you explain the difference between how “conventional” beef and grass-fed beef are raised? Are cattle that are sold as “grass-fed” or “pasture-raised” ever fed grain before slaughter, that you know of? Thanks!
Great question Mindy! I’m planning on doing a blog post this week about it! We hear all about grass-fed beef everywhere now-a-days and I know there are others that are curious about the difference between it and corn-fed beef! Thanks!
Hope you enjoyed the conference and I look forward to seeing you answer questions in future posts.
