Cleaning a Scorched Pan

March 28, 2014 By Sara

So last night I shared with you how this pan became scorched this bad.  I had been trying to make chocolate pudding, but (luckily) ended up eating Accidental Chocolate S’more Pudding instead!
Well after all the pudding was eaten, there was still the pan to clean.  I decided to use a technique that I have successfully used before.

First you start by scrapping as much as possible off of the bottom of the pan.  I used hot water and that little plastic scratcher in the upper right corner below.

Next, fill the bottom of the pan with just enough hot water to cover the bottom completely.  Then dump baking soda into the pan so that the entire bottom is covered.  Let it sit overnight.

The next morning, pour the water and and baking soda mixture out and rinse with hot water.

This is what it looked like at this point, without any scrapping.

All I had to do to get most of it off was rub it briefly with this blue sponge.

I easily finished it off with one of those S.O.S. scouring pads.  There wasn’t much “elbow grease” involved at all.  It came off really easily.

Afterwards, it was as good as new!  Or better than new!

Happy Friday everyone!  Hope you all have a great weekend!

Leave it to you to turn a mistake into not one, but two cool blog posts! Now I’m tempted to scorch something just to see if your tip works as well as it sounds. 🙂
