Sara’s Weekly Findings

May 25, 2014 By Sara

Happy Memorial Day weekend!  Hope you are having fun this holiday weekend!  We are hanging around home and having some friends over that we don’t see too often so it should be a good time around our farm!

Here are some of my favorites blog posts from this week!

Brown Butter Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats by Annalise at Completely Delicious

I love a good Rice Krispie Treat, but oh my, these look A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!  I might just have to make them this holiday weekend!

GMO Labeling Would Cost Families by South Dakota Corn Growers Association

GMO labeling has been a hot topic across the country and half of the states have proposed labeling with only three states passing it so far.  I understand that consumers what to know what is in their food, I as a farmer and consumer also want to know what is in my food, but a lot of times consumers don’t realize it’s not just as easy as slapping a GMO label on the front of the food package.

Kitchen Cabinet Makeover (How to Paint Cabinets) by Layla at The Lettered Cottage

I love DIY blogs!  They give me so many ideas to add to my Pinterest boards.  🙂  Layla is currently making over her kitchen, which I would like to do at some point too.  So reading about all the ideas and tips she has along her journey really helps me with some ideas about what I could do with our kitchen!

“Fed Up”–Fighting Obesity Together by Nicole at Farm Girl Facts of Life

There is a new documentary, “Fed Up”, that recently came out that focuses on America’s addiction to sugar, which has resulted in a national health crisis.  In Nicole’s blog post she discusses some possible ways to help with this national issue.
