Last month I had the fabulous opportunity to visit and tour Stitch Fix’s Headquarters in San Fransisco. I met up with Cotille and Hege, whom I had previously meet at BlogHer back in July. They showed me around and I got to take a peek into some of their closets and see all the clothes that they had there. They have one of every piece of clothing that they use there in their office in downtown San Francisco. They have an additional warehouse in the city that houses all the different sizes and that’s where the clothes is actually shipped from.
You can see just a portion of the employees that work at Stitch Fix in the picture above. It takes a lot to run the company and it was really interesting meeting a lot of them and learning what their role is with Stitch Fix.
I’ve talked to a lot of friends and family about Stitch Fix and the first question that I get is, “how does it work?” So here’s a brief description on what Stitch Fix is and how to get the best shipments every time!
First go to the Stitch Fix website. Click on Get Started and follow the steps and fill out the forms as best you can.
Be truthful when it comes to your sizes and what styles you like. The better you answer all the questions the better your actual shipments will match your style and personality! I really enjoyed going through that initial process. It was fun to see all the different styles and kind of narrow it down to which one(s) I was. Click here and you can see all of my Stitch Fix shipments! As you can see I’ve had pretty good success with all of my orders. There was one (Stitch Fix #3) that didn’t work well for me because I hadn’t updated my sizes! So that was my own fault!
So what happens after you fill out your Style Profile? Well, you sign up for your first shipment! You can leave a note for the stylist if there are specific items of clothing, certain colors, special occasions, etc that you are wanting pieces for. I’ve specifically asked for blazers, maxi skirts, colored skinny jeans, jackets, etc and I have received! The more information you provide your stylist the happier you will be with your Stitch Fix order!
Then once your shipment is sent, your credit card will be charged $20. That $20 will be applied to any article of clothing that you choose to buy. So for instance if you keep 1-4 of the items you will pay full price for all of them minus the $20. BUT if you decide to keep all five pieces, they you will get 25% off your entire order plus that $20 off too!
For anything that you decide to send back, they make it really easy and include a stamped return bag that you can put your return items in and then drop off at your local post office. Easy as that!
If you have any questions please leave me a comment! I think this is a great company and a really good concept for us busy women/moms who want to add new pieces of clothing to their wardrobe occasionally! Stay tuned for my Stitch Fix #6 review coming next week!
