Reading Books to Prepare for Travel

October 14, 2014 By Sara

Hello! Sorry I missed the last two days of the #write31days blogging challenge, but I needed a break! So here we are on Day 14 with a travel tip that a reader suggested to me recently and I think it’s a fantastic one!

She suggested reading a novel or memoir that takes place in the country that you will be visiting to bring that place to life before you even arrive. I love this idea! I’ve actually read quite a few books that take place in other countries and they make me want to go see the places that they talk about in the book with my own eyes!

I found an extensive list of books on a website called “Around the World in 80 Books“. There you can pick the country of your choice and see all the books that people have listed that take place in that country!  Below are some books that I’ve either read or want to read soon!

Angels and Demons-Italy

Italy

My LIfe in France-France

France

Opheilia-Denmark

Denmark

Under the Tuscan Sun-Italy

Italy

Winter in Madrid-Spain

Spain

What are some of your favorite books that take place in foreign countries?

This is part of the #write31days blogging challenge. For a list of all my posts in this series, check our this post or my Pinterest board! Thanks!
