Harvest is Complete!!!

November 26, 2014 By Sara

There are a lot of things to be thankful for this week and one of them is that we had a safe harvest that finally wrapped up Monday night about 8:30pm.  I think the goal every year is to be done before Thanksgiving, and I was beginning to wonder if that would happen this year when it started snowing a few different days, but it did!

Harvest Continues After Snow

We were lucky to have some help from family that really sped things up.  Having someone drive the grain cart(s) and run the auger really keeps things going and we are very thankful that we had the help that we did.

Harvest Continues Around the Clock

As you can see in the photos, harvest continued even with some snow on the ground and also around the clock.

Harvest Continues Around the Clock

On Saturday afternoon the boys decided that it would be more fun to bake homemade cookies for daddy and their great-uncle than take an afternoon nap.  Crazy kids!

Taking Homemade Cookies to the Field

When we took the cookies out to the field we took our annual family picture in the combine.  Pretty sure this isn’t going to happen much longer unless Kevin gets a roomier combine!

As you can also see in the photos, Ax had a few cookies too!

Harvesting Corn

So with harvest all wrapped up Kevin’s moved on to the next things on his to-do list: bailing stock bales with corn stocks that will be used for bedding for the cattle this winter, putting equipment away, cattle chores, etc.  There’s no slowing down around here!  It’s suppose to start raining soon, so they were trying to get as much done today as they could.  Hopefully by Thanksgiving, we can have a relaxing family filled day knowing that all the crops are harvested for this year.  Hope you also have a great Thanksgiving this week!
