Stitch Fix Review #7

November 5, 2014 By Sara

Stitch Fix Review #7-www.saras-house.com

Have I told you guys that I love Stitch Fix recently?  I personally think it’s so much fun getting a box in the mail and you have no idea what’s inside.  Ok, well I know it’s clothes, but other than that I don’t know what items are in there, what color they are, if I’ll love them, or if I’ll send them back.

For those of you who don’t know what Stitch Fix is, well let me give you a brief description:

Stitch Fix is like having your own personal stylist who will ship five items of clothing and/or accessories to your front door for $20.  You then try those five items on in the comfort of your own home, decide what you like and what you want to send back, and then checkout online.  Super easy!  That $20 (which is a Styling Fee) is credited to your order if you buy at least one item.  If you keep all five pieces, then you get the $20 credit AND 25% off your entire order!  There are no shipping fees at all either.  AND they send a prepaid United States Postal Service bag for you to put your return items in and then you can just drop it in your nearest mailbox.

I recently received another Fix and just had to open it up right away to see what was inside.  There was a dress, a skirt, a pair of pants, a blouse, and a cardigan.  All very fall/winter looking, which is what I was hoping for!  I did make some requests this time around.  They were for a pair of light gray dress pants that I could wear my new navy blazer with, some fall/winter pieces that I could layer, and maybe something for the holidays (I can’t remember!).  I’d say my stylist did a pretty good job!  See my review below!

Skies are Blue Farley Swiss Dot Ruffle Front Blouse

First up is this navy blouse.  When I first saw the ruffle on the front, I thought that I’d be sending it back.  It’s cute, but I’m not a huge ruffle fan.  The material is a sheer navy with navy polka dots all over.  The front is double layered so it’s not see through, but the arms and back are not, so you would probably need to wear a tank or something under this top.

As you can see from the Idea Card you can dress this top up or down.  I thought it would also be cute under my ivory blazer for another semi-dressy look.

Again, I wasn’t sure about this top, but after trying it on (my mom always told me, “Just try it on, you may like it!”) I decided that I liked it!  I paired it with my green skinny jeans from my last Fix and my cognac colored riding boots.  I actually wore this outfit to the office and out for lunch with a girlfriend the other day.  It was cool out so I added my light-colored denim jacket.  The top is really comfy and would be easy to pack if you were traveling.  It is a piece that could go with many different outfits!

Level 99 Patrick Chino Pant

Next item is this dark gray Chino pant.  I had asked for a light gray pair, so I was bummed that they were so dark.  But the color was still a nice color that I could wear with a lot of things all year round.  Also the material was soooooo soft.  Like they had been washed 100 times, but they didn’t look worn at all.

Again the Idea Card showed ways to either dress the pants up or down.  The length of the pants could easily be paired with flats or heels, so you could easily go from the workday to an evening out in no time flat.

As soon as I tried them on I knew I didn’t like the length on me.  They were just a hair too short.  I think they were suppose to be that way (considered an Ankle Length), but I feel like that length on me looks funny.  I know I could wear them tucked into boots and no one would know how long (or short) they were, but for $108 I was definitely sending them back.

41Hawthorn Iris Striped A-Line Skirt

The third item was this really cute a-line skirt!  I loved it before I even tried it on!  It zips up the back, has a black elastic waistband (super comfortable!), pockets, and red, white, and black strips.  The red actually looks kind of pink, but it’s red.

This skirt is a perfect piece for any holiday parties, family gatherings, or a fun night out on the town.  I think it could be worn all year round, just depends on the top and shoes that you wear with it!

Since we are in the fall time of the year I paired this skirt with a long-sleeved black top, a long necklace, and my tall black boots.  It made for a cute outfit!  I think it would be really cute with a black sparkly top and the black booties that I’m wearing below for a holiday party!

London Times Carina Ombre Belted Dress

The fourth item was a very wintry looking dress.  I wasn’t sure what to think at first.  The ombre effect was a little different from anything that I have and I usually don’t like belts with my dresses.  They always seem to hit me funny.

This dress could be paired with some colorful jewelry and/or shoes, a colorful cardigan or blazer, or kept classy with black accessories.  It can definitely be worn for business, to a wedding, a conference, or just for fun!

With the Idea Cards is also a note from the Stylist.  She wrote that this dress would be great with tights and heels, so that is what I paired it with.  Not sure about all the black, but the dress was so comfortable and fit well.  I was already thinking about when I’d wear it in the very near future!

Renee C Huebert Space Dye Open Cardigan

The final item was this light gray cardigan.  It was nice and lightweight and would be a great packing piece.  It did not come with the belt, I added that for the picture.

This piece could go with many, many things.  As you can see on the Idea Card they paired it with a dress and also jeans and a tee.

I put it on with a dark purple tank underneath, dark skinny jeans, my black booties and a wide black belt.  The cardigan had a lot of extra material on it and I didn’t like it without the belt and I wasn’t fond of it with the belt either.  I tried a skinnier belt too, but it just got lost in all the fabric.  I don’t mind cardigans and actually have quite a few of them, so I need to make sure on my next Fix that I specify, “No cardigans please!”

Overall this was a good fix again!  I decided to send the cardigan and pants back.  I just didn’t like the flowiness of the cardigan and the pants were too expensive and a little too short.  But the other three pieces I love!
