Word(less) Wednesday: Soccer Season Recap

May 20, 2015 By Sara

Soccer Team 2015

Tomorrow is Hudson’s last day of Pre-School and he’s already got two sports seasons under his belt and we’re just starting the third.  Honestly before he began school I was thinking that we’d hold off on sports for a while, or at least until he started asking about it.  Kevin and I were both very active in sports growing up, but none of mine started until Jr. High other than t-ball and softball.

Well, after Christmas he started bringing home sheets from school for wrestling and basketball.  The wrestling one got lost so he didn’t do that, but he said he wanted to play basketball.  It was only four days in February so I figured we could handle that.  He ended up LOVING it!

The next sport was soccer.  This was through a league in Council Bluffs.  I never played soccer, but Kevin did and I guess he was pretty good at it.  I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I knew Hudson loves to run so he’d probably enjoy it.  And he did!

He caught on pretty quick and I was sad to see it come to an end last week.  At his age level, they just play 3 on 3 on a small soccer field.  There were six little boys on the team and they all improved so much over the course of the season and everyone had lots of fun!

Kevin was one of the assistant coaches for his team and whenever he scored he’d run back and give his dad a high-five.  He also ran to his dad when he took a ball to the face for the first time.  Kevin took him over to the sidelines and Axten went running over to help console him.  It was so sweet…

Most of the boys have younger siblings who were part of their cheering sections.  Axten and his friend Tenley didn’t want to smile for the camera, but they did like to eat their snacks and watch their brothers play soccer!Cheering Section-Siblings

I always had to make sure that plenty of snacks were brought along to the games.  I even got him to eat some healthy ones like apples!  Axten and Mommy Cheering on Their Teammates Hudson's Soccer Team

Hudson always had Ax and me cheering him on and sometimes his grandparents and aunts and uncles came too!

At the end of the last game the boys were all awarded with medals and we got them to take one more team phone (minus Gabe who was gone that day).

He really enjoyed soccer, but now it’s on to t-ball!  His first game is next week!

I know I mentioned at the beginning of the post that I thought maybe we’d wait awhile for sports, but Hudson has learned so much and really enjoys it!  It’s easy now, I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like when Axten and the twins are involved in activities and sports too!  Crazy!  Have a great Wednesday!

Loved the recap! Thanks! The first picture of Hudson with his head down ready to kick the ball is Kevin over the stump!! When I look at him directly in the face, I don’t always see it, but he’s a ringer in that picture!
