FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
3rd ANNUAL TEAM JACK RADIOTHON PRESENTED BY THE HOME AGENCY TO BE HELD AT UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN ON SEPTEMBER 3RD
Radio stations invite listeners to tune in to fund research for pediatric brain cancer
August 28, 2015 (Lincoln, NE) — Radio partners KLIN of Lincoln and over 20 radio stations across the state and into South Dakota, Kansas and Colorado are encouraging listeners to tune in on September 3 from 7 AM to 6 PM (CST) for the 3rd Annual Team Jack Foundation Radiothon Presented by The Home Agency live from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Student Union Plaza. The Radiothon raises money for the Team Jack Foundation whose primary mission is to raise funds for pediatric brain cancer research. This year, the radiothon will be presented by a local Nebraska business, The Home Agency, based in Elwood, Nebraska.
“We are honored and excited to be the presenting sponsor of this event for the Team Jack Foundation. This is a cause that is close to our family’s hearts and funding research for this disease is vital for our children’s future. These kids need our help,” said Jim Baldonado, Founder of The Home Agency.
Among this year’s program highlights, are tentatively scheduled celebrity interviews with Cincinnati Bengal, Rex Burkhead, Pro-Cyclist and Cancer Survivor, Lance Armstrong, Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts, Renowned Sportscaster, Dick Vitale and many more to be announced. In addition, several families from the Midwest as well as nationally who have been impacted by pediatric brain cancer will share their journey and experiences with listeners, including parents of Zach Lederer from Zaching Against Cancer. Lederer, whose story was featured on ESPN, was 11 when he was first diagnosed with a brain tumor, and his family was told that his survival was unlikely. He was the former University of Maryland men’s basketball student manager whose inspirational “Zaching” pose went viral during his battle with cancer. After enduring numerous procedures and surgeries, he passed at the age of 20 years old.
“In the past few months, our family has been reminded about the importance of funding pediatric brain cancer research with the recent passing of three young Nebraska children from the disease. We need money for research. These kids deserve more. The treatment modalities must be improved upon for all children. This Radiothon will help do this in a big way,” said Andy Hoffman, Board Chair of the Team Jack Foundation.
Listeners are asked to help our children by making a pledge by calling 1-855-RUN-JACK or by visiting www.TeamJackFoundation.org/radiothon on September 3. Listeners can also text CURE to 501501 to make a one time donation of $10. In 2014, KLIN of Lincoln along with over 15 other state-wide radio stations raised over $60,000 for the Team Jack Foundation. They hope to double that this year alone.
In addition to celebrity and family interviews, donors will have a chance to win an ultimate Husker package: (2) club tickets to NU v. Iowa (Nov. 27th), (2) Floor seats to NU v. Penn State Volleyball game (Nov. 28th), generously donated by the Jim and Sharri Baldonado Family and The Home Agency, a stay at the Embassy Suites in Downtown Lincoln and dinner for (2) from Misty’s Steakhouse in Downtown Lincoln. Tune in on September 18 to find out how.
Now more than ever, researchers need your help. To see a list of participating radio stations state-wide so you too can tune in, please visit www.TeamJackFoundation.org/radiothon.
