Harvest, Cattle, Football, Eclipse, Babies, Oh My!

Farm Kids and Corn at Harvest

We’ve been gearing up for harvest, weaning calves, chopping silage, watching football, and counting down the remaining days until the twins arrive around here.  Kevin’s thinking harvest will begin the end of this coming week, days after the twins arrive!  The crops are looking pretty good, so he’s itching to get in the fields to see what the yields really are!

We got our silage chopped a few weeks ago so we can use that as cattle feed this winter.  You can read more about why we chop silage here and here!  Axten got to ride along with daddy this year as they packed the silage in the pit.  Notice he didn’t forget his snacks!

We also have most of our calves weaned and they are hanging out by our house.  So the boys are back to helping daddy do cattle chores now!

Farm Kids Feeding Calves

Hudson’s been playing flag football and has really gotten the hang of it.  It’s so fun to watch him and all his little buddies out there.  A lot of the team has played basketball and soccer together so we’re really getting to know the kids and their parents too!  Fun times are ahead of us I have a feeling!

A week ago there was a pretty cool super blood moon total lunar eclipse that we got to watch!  We were lucky and had a completely clear sky that night.  The boys got to see the very beginning of it before they had to head to bed, but Kevin and I were able to see the entire thing.  We sat there and watched it change and discussed baby names.  We have had a extensive list of names for quite awhile now, and keep adding to it.  So we were putting some combinations together.  Not sure if we’ve actually settled on anything yet, but hopefully by the time they arrive we’ll at least have the first names decided on!  Below are the pictures that I took from that evening and complied into one photo.

As for the twins, they will be arriving next week.  I went in for my last non-stress test today and everything is looking great.  It’s hard to believe that the next time I walk into that hospital, we’ll be walking out with two kiddos!  I’ve been getting last minute things done around the house this weekend along with some naps before this crazy week starts tomorrow!  We’ll keep you posted on when they arrive.  I’ll more than likely make the announcement on Instagram and/or Facebook and when I have a little more time I’ll get a blog post up!  So make sure to follow along with us there!

I wanted one more photo of the four of us this morning after church and this is the best that Kevin’s dad got of us!  Axten was being completely uncooperative and Kevin was trying to get him to look, so the other 13 photos have both of them not looking at all.  Hudson stood perfectly still the entire time!

Ross Family of Four

Hope everyone’s having a great weekend!  Next post will be about the arrival of the twins!  Can’t wait!
