Oh My! Carver and Hollis Are One!

October 7, 2016 By Sara

carver-hollis-1-year-bw

How did that happen!?!  We blinked and we no longer have babies!  Carver and Hollis turned one this past Wednesday on October 5th.  The day before it seemed so surreal looking at them, knowing that exactly one year before that we hadn’t even met them.  And now, here they are, with their little personalities shining through.

Mr. Carver Selleck Ross is a sweetheart.  He’s still the bigger twin, weighing in at 21 pounds, 5 ounces and is a little over 30 inches tall.  He likes to be “up”.  He could be screaming one second and as soon as Kevin or I (or someone else) pick him up he immediately stops and is happy!

hollis-claybourn-1-year

Mr. Hollis Claybourn Ross is the ornery one!  For being smaller than his twin brother he sure can be a little stinker!  He weighs in at 20 pounds, three ounces and was almost 29.5 inches tall.  He finds it funny to “run” (aka crawl) away and tries to hide.  I think it’s so cute when they think you can’t see them when they can’t see you.  🙂

The boys love their daddy (but their first word was mamamamama!) and especially when he lifts them and tosses them up in the air!  (Obviously they are teething too!  Can’t get those fingers in their mouth far enough!)

I wanted to snap a few pictures of all four boys, but Carver wasn’t having it.  Luckily we are having family pictures taken on the farm in a few weeks!  Hopefully they can get some better ones!

And then the photo session turned into a wrestling session….like  usual!

These two are usually pretty happy little boys!  They’ve been working on some more teeth lately, but Carver still has seven and Hollis six.  I have a feeling all of their one year molars are going to pop through at the same time with as many teething “symptoms” as they have been having lately!  They both have also taken their first steps during this past month, but aren’t quite off and running yet.  Hollis was the first one and has walked the most, but Carver is right behind him!

hollis

Carver and Hollis both LOVE to eat and will pretty much eat anything that we put in front of them.  I’d say their favorite fruit is mandarin oranges, favorite vegetable is green beans, favorite meat is pork chops, and favorite starch is pasta.

They love to play with all of their toys and read books.  They really like to get into the kitchen drawers and take out all the stuff.  They are also really good about going to Hudson’s soccer and flag football games (and practices) and watching/playing at them.

A few other favorites are crawling really fast back and forth across the kitchen floor.  I think they like the slapping sound that their hands and knees make on the floor.  They both love to play peek-a-boo and taking baths.

We couldn’t have asked for happier, easier twins I don’t think!  They have both been sleeping all night long consistently since around 6 months.  They take good naps (usually) during the day and play really well with each other, until Hollis bites Carver.  That has happened a few times already!  Also, Hollis found a way to crawl up onto the couch and then up onto the back of it so he could stand up and look out the big picture window (there’s a picture on Instagram of this).  I think these two are going to be climbers!  We got lucky with Hudson and Axten.  Neither of them ever did anything like that or crawled out of their crib.  I think it’s just a matter of time before Hollis finds a way!

Well, this past year has been amazing, but I love seeing your little personalities come out and watching you grow into the little boys that you are.  I can’t wait to see what this next year is going to hold for us!  Please take it easy on mommy and daddy!  🙂  Love you both Carver and Hollis!
