Hello! Thank you for visiting my blog “Sara’s House”. It’s a look inside our family farm in southwest Iowa. I love to travel, take pictures, share recipes, talk about our farm, DIY, and everything in between! You never know what we may be doing around here!
Just a little background, I grew up in a small town in Nebraska, which I wouldn’t change for anything, but I fell in love with a farm boy from Iowa. I moved to his family farm after we got married in March of 2007. Kevin’s the 6th generation to farm this land and we are now raising the seventh generation, Hudson (HD), Axten (Ax), Carver, and Hollis. The big boys absolutely love farming. They are always up for going out to feed the cattle or riding in a tractor or the combine during harvest!
I recently decided to be a full time stay at home mommy and still work part time at my off the farm job on top of being a farmwife. I’m also very involved in CommonGround, which is a grassroots organization of farm women/mothers who want to reach out to their urban counterparts to talk to them about agriculture, where their food comes from, and how it is grown and raised. I’ve learned so much about agriculture and farming since I met Kevin and like to talk to consumers about what it’s like on our family farm and answer any questions that they may have.
Farming isn’t just a job, it’s our lifestyle. We are proud to be growing crops and livestock that will provide food, fuel, feed, and fiber for consumers.
So please join me in this journey that we call life here on our family farm in Iowa! If you have any questions about our farm or what ever topic I may be discussing that day, please leave a comment or email me at sarashousehd (at) gmail (dot) com. I love to hear from my readers!
Thanks to Krista’s suggestion, I found your blog today! Excited to follow along as you agvocate! I adore the picture of your two boys silhouetted against the cows in the background! If it’s not already, you should hang that up at home.
Thanks! I have it hanging in my office actually! 🙂
