I ran my first 5K of the summer today with my sister, Megan. It was the Erika 5K Fun Run at Johnson Lake, NE. We actually ran into some family friends of ours that were back for the race. So that was fun!
Since I had actually only ran 3.1 miles one time (ever) this week I was just hoping that I could run it all and I set my goal at 11 minute miles. Well, I ended up with a time of 30:56! So that is about 10 minute miles! I felt really good running it. It was nice and flat out there so that helped AND it was a beautiful morning! My sister ran it a few minutes faster and was happy with her time too! Below are some pictures. My next 5K will be on July 4th in Underwood, IA. Can’t wait!
Our friend, Mike, coming up on Megan at the very end. She had no idea it was him running up behind her. 🙂 |
They ended up closing the finish line at the same time! |
Since my time was a few minutes faster than I thought, my dad wasn’t prepared to take my picture when I crossed the finish line. So this picture was taken a few minutes later. |
Post race. All smiles! 🙂 |
I ran the Rose Festival 5K in State Center this morning. It was so much fun! My sister was also cheering for me at the end. Once you run one 5K, you’ll want to do more. They are addicting (but in a good way!)
