I seriously don’t know where the time has gone these past few weeks. I swore I was going to start blogging more, but here we are two weeks later! Sorry! If you are reading this, thanks for being patient with me. This spring/summer started out so early and fast and has just picked up speed! I’m sure you all feel the same way!
Anyways, today I’m going to keep it simple and just give a little update on HD and what he’s been up to these past few weeks and also about how I’m doing with this pregnancy.
First off, HD and I have been spending A LOT of time outside. He totally has a “farmer’s tan” already. The past two summers I tried to keep him out of the hot sun and so he’s never really gotten a tan, but this year, we just spray the sunscreen on and head outside. He’s so good about playing in the yard with the puppies (who are now five months old and HUGE already!) while I’m weeding the garden. The garden is a never ending project, but I enjoy it.

For Kevin’s birthday (back in April) he got a cowboy hat, when we went to pick it out, we just had to get HD one too! I know the Crocs aren’t really cowboy attire, but it’s what he wanted to wear the day when he got to ride a horse for the first time! haha He wasn’t sure what to think about the horse when he actually got up on him, but then Bill hopped on with him and he had fun!
Like I said, we’ve been spending a lot of time outside. One evening, we turned the sprinkler on for HD and he ran through it while I cut up watermelon. Yummy!
Last week my mom came to visit from Sunday-Thursday. Kevin was out of town, so I invited mom to come and help me redo our bedroom. 🙂 I have this large list of things that I want to get done inside the house before baby #2 arrives this fall. Luckily my mom likes to do these types of “projects” and is willing to come help. Before Kevin left last week, I mentioned that mom and I were going to paint the bedroom walls and furniture. He’s a good husband and said ok. Didn’t ask what color or anything. I guess he just trusts me…or knows that I’ll make the final decision anyways! I’ll be blogging about the before, during and after of our bedroom project soon. It’s still a work in progress. The new duvet cover should be here on Wednesday and I still need to finish the headboard (which is made out of two old doors from a house that used to be down the road on the farm), and paint a few other pieces, find two matching night stands and paint them, and figure out some artwork, oh and sew some decorative pillows and curtains too! Once I’m done in there, I’m hoping mom will come visit again and help paint the living room and kitchen and ceiling. 🙂 Below is a little sneak peak on what we did to the furniture! They turned out great!

One evening while my mom was here, Aunt Megan came to visit. She played with HD while we worked on the furniture out in the shed. After his bath, she decided it would be funny to give him a comb over. Poor little guy!
Last Monday Kevin was off with the Iowa Corn Growers and Indy Race Car Driver Marco Andretti doing E85 pump promotions all over Iowa. They ended up close to home and we drove out to fill up with E85 and meet Marco. HD even got his Cars T-shirt signed by him!
After mom left last week, HD and I got to spend some quality time together since Kevin was still out of town. We ate Chinese, watched movies, played outside, etc. It was a fun and somewhat relaxing weekend.

So that is what HD has been up to these past few weeks. I touched on some of my projects too. All that painting was in between work, taking care of HD, doing chores while Kevin was gone, etc.
It’s been so hot and windy around our part of the state and we were in desperate need of some rain which we finally got last night. We ended up with 2.85″ of rain. It was for the most part a nice gentle rain with a few periods of down pours, but we needed it. Luckily we didn’t have the windy that usually accompanies the storms!
Now this week, it’s back to working in the garden and on our bedroom in my “spare” time.
As far as how my pregnancy is progressing, I’m at 16 weeks now and feel a lot better. When I was pregnant with HD I was basically just extra tired. I was never nauseous or anything like that. This time around I was nauseous off and on throughout most days during my first trimester. I was also extremely tire, but I think part of that is because I am chasing around a two year old this time! But now that I’m well into my second trimester, I’m feeling a lot better! Like I mentioned above, I’m hoping to get some of the big projects down inside the house this summer before I get too pregnant to want to do any of that!
Next week we can find out what gender the baby is, but we have decided not to find out again this time around. We didn’t know if HD was a boy or a girl until he arrived and it was really exciting. So we’re going to do that again this time too! (Although one of my best friends is pregnant (actually all of them are!) and she just found out that they are having a baby girl. We have to wait 5.5 more months before we find out! Ugh!) 🙂 If these past 16 weeks are any indication, the next 24 or so will fly by and in no time we will be celebrating the arrival of Baby Ross #2 at Thanksgiving!
Well, that’s what we have been up to these past two weeks. I will be back tomorrow (I promise!) with a Topic Tuesday post about CommonGround. So stay tuned!
