10 Small Things Moms are Thankful for this Holiday Season

November 26, 2013 By Sara

Image from Modern Mom

This week, I working on “Thankful” posts.  Today I’m going to start with “10 Small Things Moms are Thankful for this Holiday Season.”  I received an email from Modern Mom last week and it had this image in it.  I loved it!  I’ve very thankful for all of those things!  Here is my edited version:

1.  Naps
I am so thankful for naps.  Both for myself and for my boys.  Both HD and AJ have been good nappers.  We’ve been really lucky!
2.  Baby wipes
Oh, yes!  I am thankful for baby wipes!  Whenever I’m with the boys whether it’s at home or out and about, baby wipes are near by for those sticky, dirty little fingers!
3.  Family recipes
I’m thankful to come from a family of good cooks and also to marry into a family full of good cooks too!  I got this recipe box last year for Christmas and I’m slowly adding all my favorite family recipes from both sides and also some of my own.  I’m hoping to have it full of recipes to someday hand down to my kids!

4.  Bedtime Stories
I’m thankful for bedtime stories.  I used to be really good about reading to HD every night before bed, but with a second kid, it doesn’t happen near as much.  It’s going to be one of my New Year’s Resolutions to read to both boys before bed most nights (started tonight!).  We have tons of books and HD loves to sit and listen.  I hope AJ starts to love it as much as his brother!

5.  Grandparents
Oh, how I’m thankful for Grandparents!  I don’t know what we would do without them!  Kevin’s parents live just down the road from us and mine live about 3.5 hours away, but they both watch the boys whenever we need them too and help us in anyway that we need.  They are the best!

6.  Works of Fine Art
HD loves to draw, color, paint, finger paint, you name it!  We usually have a few drawings hanging on the fridge at any given time.
7.  Daddy Time
As much as I love my kids, I also love when they go hang out with Kevin for awhile!  HD loves to go out to the shed, ride in tractors and check the cows, so it’s not hard to get him out the door with Kevin.  AJ is a little too young for all that still, but it won’t be too long until Kevin’s got two little mini-me’s tagging belong behind him!

8.  Empty Dishwashers
Empty dishwashers are great!  Especially when someone else unloads them!  HD is a really good helper.  He usually unpacks and hands them to me to put away.  AJ also likes to help unload the dishwasher, but it always seems to be when the dishes are still dirty!
9.  Chocolate
Chocolate is a weakness.  Especially if it has anything to do with dark chocolate, caramel and sea salt!
10.  Warm Hugs and Sweet Kisses!!
My favorite!  I love when HD just gives me a hug or says “Mommy, I love you” out of the blue.  It melts my heart!I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!
