May in Review

May 30, 2014 By Sara

Oh what a month May has been around here!  We celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary for Kevin’s aunt and uncle, Kevin’s mom’s retirement, graduations, and a wedding.  We also got to see some friends that live half way around the world and spend a lot of time together with both sides of the family.

The weather is finally really nice out so we’ve all been outside pretty much from the time we get home after work until the sun goes down.  Let me tell you that I have very dirty and tired little boys at the end of the night!

Both boys like to help with chores.  Hope they still like to do them in 10 years!

One chilly evening we took the boys to the Henry Doorly Zoo to the Cyclone Tailgate Tour.  They got to meet the coaches and see Cy too!

One weekend I loaded up the boys and took them camping with my family near Burwell, NE while Kevin stayed home to finish planting corn.  It was a great weekend which I still need to blog about!  On the way home we stopped by and saw some family and friends.

Watch for a post on Monday about Archie the Calf, named after baby Archie in this picture.

Memorial Day weekend was a great weekend for us.  It started with a wedding on Friday night and we got to spend time with some friends that we don’t get to see very often.  Then Saturday evening we had that whole crew out to our place for supper.  Sunday we took it easy and then Monday evening we had some friends and family over for a fish fry.  It was the perfect end to a perfect weekend at home.

Axten and his friend Tenley

After everyone left on Monday evening, I saw this big rain cloud off to our north.  Unfortunately we didn’t get any rain that night.

On Tuesday as I was leaving work, I looked up and saw this.  It was so pretty!  This is how it really looked, it’s not edited or anything!  On Instagram I tagged it with #IA365 and the Des Moines Register reposted it!  Cool!

Like I said above, it’s been really nice lately.  Every evening after I get home from picking the boys up from daycare, we figure out something for dinner and then head outside.  They run around, play in the sprinkler, dig in the dirt, help Kevin with chores, etc.

Axten and his Great Grandma Marian who is 87 years old today!

Last night Axten and I were hanging out outside while Kevin and Hudson moved an electric fence so we went for a little walk.  We walked out to the corn field that is right behind the shed.  The sun was just starting to go down so I snapped a few pictures.

Then we went and fed Archie the Calf (more about him on Monday!).  Ax loves the cows.  He’d climb right in the pen and try to play with them if we let him!

But he’ll just have to stick with playing with his dog Diesel.

Hudson is so happy it’s summer time!

Snack time!  Doesn’t Ax look bigger than HD in this picture?

And this is how we end every night….

I hope you all had a great month!  Looking forward to what June brings our way!
